Job Summary

The Lab Technician I is a key member of our team at ClimateMaster, responsible for building engineering prototypes, maintaining psychrometric test cell and lab conditioning equipment, and performing unit modifications to support research and development of eco-friendly heating and cooling solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow verbal and written instructions from Project Engineers, Designers, and Senior Technicians, as well as Engineering Services Managers.
  • Set up and install equipment in test cells, following established processes and procedures.
  • Read and interpret sheet metal drawings, wiring diagrams, and develop wire charts.
  • Perform silver brazing of copper and dissimilar metals, and soft soldering of copper and copper to brass.
  • Identify fit, form, and function of major components of heat pump and fan coil systems.
  • Assemble units and make unit modifications with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a clean work environment, adhering to established guidelines and 5S principles.
  • Work with competing demands and use AS400 Product Inquiry and Product Structure Inquiry Screens.
  • Be a licensed forklift operator and trained and certified for LOTO Electrical Safety.
  • Consistently maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Work flexible hours, including Saturdays and overtime, and report any unsafe conditions or actions.
Requirements
  • Associate degree or certification in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technology or equivalent experience.
  • Entry-level HVAC technical aptitude and experience.
  • Knowledge of Database software, AS400, Micro-Soft Office, and LabVIEW software and National Instruments hardware.
  • LOTO Electrical Safety Certification, CCG Powered Industrial Truck Certification, and Refrigerant Handlers license.
  • Basic knowledge of refrigeration concepts, tools, and electrical concepts, including Ohm's Law principles and metrology application.
