Position Overview
The Systems and Analysis Group is dedicated to providing comprehensive technical assessments to senior leadership within the USAF. We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator to join our team, responsible for constructing and maintaining IT computing and network frameworks in a secure environment, while also offering end-user assistance as required. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of Windows, foundational networking principles, and Linux, along with a keen interest in working within a research and development context. A collaborative mindset, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to independently devise innovative IT solutions to improve the efficiency and dependability of computing resources are essential. Comfort in engaging with technical end users and handling classified information in a secure setting is also necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the installation, upkeep, repair, and enhancement of computer and network apparatus
- Provide support for both Windows and Linux platforms, applications, and users
- Evaluate and test new hardware and software solutions, offering recommendations for acquisitions
- Assist in the design and execution of configuration management, as well as monitoring systems and networks
- Aid in the configuration of network devices, including routers and switches
- Deliver technical assistance to staff and backend system users
- Manage user access through Microsoft Active Directory group policies
- Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to enhance technology and support methodologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with over 5 years of experience in Windows Systems Administration or a related field
- In-depth knowledge of the Windows operating system, including configuration, installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory
- Familiarity with working in a classified computing environment
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and managing network services such as DNS, DHCP, NIS, NFS, SSH, SAMBA, and AD
- Technical expertise in securing networks and systems in accordance with DISA STIGs
- Conduct vulnerability scanning, configuration assessments, and remediation for networks, systems, and applications
- Basic understanding of the Linux operating system
- Knowledge of RMF policies and DoD Directive 8570
- Must possess or be able to obtain a DoD M IAM I baseline certification within six months of employment
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
Work Environment
This position is full-time, requiring onsite presence for 40 hours each week, with potential travel to various field offices as necessary.
