Job Title: Experienced Mortgage Underwriter - Active Designations Required

National Mortgage Staffing is seeking an experienced mortgage underwriter for our client. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mortgage underwriting, with a focus on 203k and VA loans. The candidate must have an active CHUMS ID and VA designation, as well as 3+ years of residential mortgage lending experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent the company in a professional and enthusiastic manner, providing exceptional customer service and adhering to our core values.
  • Ensure all data in the loan origination system is consistent with documentation in the loan file.
  • Review loan files to validate that all requirements of the company's product descriptions have been met and the loan is underwritten in accordance with investor and/or applicable agency guidelines.
  • Properly condition a loan file in accordance with investor, agency, and/or company guidelines.
  • Review the loan appraisal and any supporting documentation in accordance with standard underwriting guidelines.
  • Verify that all third-party quality control supporting documentation is contained within the loan file and meets company standards.
  • Communicate proactively with internal staff on the status of all loans.
  • Complete all task tracking requirements in the loan origination system.
  • Assist the Quality Control Department and the Post-Closing Department in obtaining missing documentation needed to render a loan saleable in the secondary market.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of residential mortgage lending experience with good knowledge of lending regulations and credit/collateral analysis practices.
  • Must have held the role within the last 11 months.
  • ACTIVE CHUMS ID and VA designation is required for consideration.
  • USDA and Conventional Underwriting experience.
  • Strong Mortgage underwriting background.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to adapt well to a fast-paced and constantly changing business environment.
  • PC proficient at the intermediate level.
  • Comfortable with new technology systems and paperless environment.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team-oriented environment and provide good customer service.
