Schrödinger, a pioneering entity in the realm of science and technology with three decades of expertise in atomic-scale modeling and physics-based chemical simulations, is in search of a Lead Software Engineer to enhance and sustain the code of our enterprise solutions.

As a vital member of the LiveDesign team, you will collaborate with a dedicated group of engineers, innovators, scientists, and creators in their mission to build a sophisticated web application that empowers scientists to harness the capabilities of Schrödinger's software platform. Your passion for software engineering and attention to coding excellence will be crucial in transforming the development of groundbreaking therapeutics and materials.

Who will thrive in this role:

  • A proficient software engineer eager to develop and implement web services utilizing containerization technologies (notably Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, and Tilt)
  • An expert in modern infrastructure operations and automation tools who relishes server virtualization, deployment automation, and continuous integration and testing
  • A dedicated *nix system operator with a solid understanding of process limits, devices, networking, and systems administration
  • Individuals who enjoy technical challenges and problem-solving activities
  • An outstanding communicator, both verbally and in writing
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Collaborating with various application teams to design and automate the systems that build, test, deploy, and monitor our development and production environments
  • Assisting in the resolution of infrastructure-related challenges that arise in real-world scenarios
  • Designing and developing our internal infrastructure services, primarily utilizing Python/Django
  • Exercising independent judgment (with support from colleagues) to architect and implement robust, secure, and maintainable solutions
Qualifications you should possess:
  • More than five years of experience in software development, infrastructure, and/or systems administration
  • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Ruby, Bash, etc.
  • Understanding of container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
