Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise nursing practices to ensure adherence to established healthcare standards.

  • Ensure effective communication of inmate/patient information and unit issues to relevant staff.
  • Accountable for nursing functions during assigned shifts.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of controlled substances and medical supplies.
  • Offer health education and counseling to inmates/patients.
  • Conduct health assessments and provide treatment for minor health issues, referring complex cases to appropriate medical professionals.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts through detailed reporting.
  • Monitor and document patient symptoms and progress, contributing to nursing care plans.
  • Engage in pre-release planning with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Gather ongoing data to assess nursing care requirements.
  • Implement care plans aimed at promoting and restoring inmate/patient health.
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care, utilizing both general and specialized techniques.
  • Participate in a structured orientation program, receiving hands-on training alongside experienced nursing staff.

Qualifications:

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Capability to work independently while demonstrating clinical proficiency.
  • Ability to establish trust and rapport with patients.
  • Experience in correctional healthcare is advantageous.
