The Charge Nurse will oversee nursing operations, ensuring compliance with established standards and protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise nursing practices to ensure adherence to established healthcare standards.
- Assess and provide comprehensive care while maintaining security protocols.
- Foster professional relationships with facility personnel and external service providers.
- Ensure effective communication of inmate/patient information and unit issues to relevant staff.
- Accountable for nursing functions during assigned shifts.
- Maintain accurate documentation of controlled substances and medical supplies.
- Offer health education and counseling to inmates/patients.
- Conduct health assessments and provide treatment for minor health issues, referring complex cases to appropriate medical professionals.
- Facilitate smooth transitions between shifts through detailed reporting.
- Monitor and document patient symptoms and progress, contributing to nursing care plans.
- Engage in pre-release planning with interdisciplinary teams.
- Gather ongoing data to assess nursing care requirements.
- Implement care plans aimed at promoting and restoring inmate/patient health.
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care, utilizing both general and specialized techniques.
- Participate in a structured orientation program, receiving hands-on training alongside experienced nursing staff.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication abilities.
- Capability to work independently while demonstrating clinical proficiency.
- Ability to establish trust and rapport with patients.
- Experience in correctional healthcare is advantageous.
