UVA Health System is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join its Inpatient Endocrinology team. As a key member of this team, you will play a vital role in managing endocrine disorders for inpatients across multiple service lines at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including history and physical examinations of patients with endocrine disorders.
- Manage acute and chronic endocrine conditions, predominantly diabetes mellitus, but also thyroid, adrenal, and other metabolic disorders.
- Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with endocrinologists, members of the patient's primary team, and other healthcare providers.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and laboratory results relevant to endocrine disorders.
- Provide patient education on disease management, treatment plans, and lifestyle modifications.
- Manage inpatient consultations and follow-up care for endocrine patients.
- Monitor and adjust medications and treatment regimens based on patient response and clinical guidelines.
- Coordinate care with specialists, surgeons, dietitians, and other healthcare team professionals.
- Collaborate with attending endocrinologists, fellows, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in case discussions, rounds, and care planning meetings.
- Communicate management plans and recommendations effectively with primary service teams, and patients and families, providing clear explanations and addressing questions/concerns.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including progress notes, orders, and billing/coding entries.
- Ensure documentation is compliant with hospital policies, legal requirements, and accreditation standards.
- Stay current with advancements in endocrinology and related fields through continuing education and professional development.
- Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and research.
- Master's Degree as an Advance Practice Provider - Nurse Practitioner or as an Advance Practice Provider - Physician Assistant.
- One to two years minimum experience as an Advanced Practice Provider Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred.
- License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
Position Compensation Range: $93,032.00 - $149,032.00 Annual
