Job Summary:

The University of Virginia's College at Wise, Division of Music, is seeking an Adjunct Instructor of Piano and Collaborative Pianist to join our faculty. This part-time, semesterly appointment will involve teaching Applied Piano, Class Piano, and potentially other select music courses to music majors, minors, and other UVA Wise students. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with fellow Division of Music faculty to provide collaborative piano duties with the UVA Wise Choral ensembles, individual voice and instrumental students, and potentially Division of Music faculty members.

Responsibilities:

Teach Applied Piano, Class Piano, and other select music courses to music majors, minors, and other UVA Wise students
Provide collaborative piano duties with the UVA Wise Choral ensembles, individual voice and instrumental students, and potentially Division of Music faculty members
Work collaboratively with fellow Division of Music faculty to achieve departmental goals

Requirements:

Master's degree in Piano Performance, Piano Pedagogy, or Collaborative Piano
Excellent musical, verbal, and written communication skills
Ability to teach students with a wide range of musical backgrounds
Experience with teaching Class Piano and being a collaborative pianist in both ensemble and individual settings
Commitment to sustaining and growing the enrollment of the UVA Wise Division of Music

Preferred Qualifications:

Clear understanding of UVA Wise's public liberal arts mission
Experience with teaching, performing, and accompanying a variety of musical styles
