Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of complex maintenance tasks, including repairs and maintenance of building and mechanical machinery, hydraulic components, and physical structures of production machines and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of complicated maintenance tasks using sound judgment with little or no supervision daily.
  • Maintain HVAC systems, including furnace and air conditioner filters, belts, and lubrication.
  • Prepare work orders after completing each job.
  • Collaborate with team members to prepare maintenance schedules.
  • Perform major and minor remodeling tasks, including painting walls.
  • Perform repairs on masonry and roofing.
  • Perform minor and major electrical repairs.
  • Perform plumbing repairs.
  • Assist the meter maintenance crew with collection activities as assigned.
  • Perform routine duties as preventative maintenance to machines according to designated schedule, including replacing or repairing machine belts, filters, fans, etc.
  • Dismantle machine equipment to gain access to problem areas and to remove defective parts.
  • Clean and lubricate machines and machine parts, such as shafts, pulleys, gears, bearings, etc.
  • Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.
  • May need to paint machines or equipment as needed to prevent corrosion.
  • Report any major machine repairs, tools, or material shortages and concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience, apprenticeship, or formal training is favorable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industrial mechanical and electrical maintenance experience is required.
Qualifications
  • Ability to recognize and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Extensive knowledge of related machine equipment and tooling is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of various power tools.
  • Excellent knowledge in electrical and mechanical machine repairs.
  • Ability to effectively repair and maintain physical structures and operations of machinery and buildings.
  • Ability to inspect and test machinery efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with department supervisors and all levels within the company as it relates to the job.
  • Mechanically and electronically inclined.
Physical Job Requirements
  • Regularly required to walk or stand for the duration of an 8-10 hour shift daily.
  • Occasionally required to sit, bend, reach, crouch, stoop, or kneel.
  • Frequently required to lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Excellent hearing and vision abilities are required to accurately detect machine malfunctions.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles resulting from metalworking coolants and oils.
  • The noise level in the work environment is generally loud, requiring hearing protection.
