Job Summary:

The Patient Access Representative I is a vital role within the Kaiser Permanente Health System environment. This position is responsible for ensuring a seamless and efficient patient experience, from initial registration to clinical care. The Patient Access Representative I is the first point of contact for patients, families, and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate and timely registration processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Registration: Greet and register patients for various medical services, ensuring accurate and complete demographic information, insurance data, and third-party liability information.
  • Revenue Collection: Determine and collect cost-shares, partial payments, and other patient liabilities, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Appointing: Schedule and cancel appointments as needed, ensuring efficient use of resources and minimizing wait times.
  • Regulatory/Organizational Compliance: Complete regulatory and policy-required forms, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with CMS, Medicaid, Medicare, and other government and insurance requirements.
  • General Services: Provide exceptional customer service, respond to patient inquiries, and perform various administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the department.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum one (1) year of healthcare financial experience and minimum one (1) year of office environment customer service, or minimum two (2) years of post-high school related education, or combination of education and experience.
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support, Medical Terminology Certification, and CPR Certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with EPIC applications preferred.
  • Previous hospital or ambulatory clinic registration experience.
  • One (1) year of higher education preferred.
