Job Summary:

As a Developmental Disabilities Specialist at The May Institute Inc, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate and ensure the quality of healthcare services provided to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and ensure the quality of healthcare services provided to individuals served.
  • Support assigned children in fully participating in activities with typical peers in a community group setting.
  • Coordinate supports identified by family in child's IFSP.
  • Assist family in the development of their child's IFSP.
  • Document each interaction with children and/or family on session notes.
  • Maintain records of each assigned child.
  • Assist in transition planning at least six months prior to discharge.
  • Send referral letter to local school system.
  • Monitor child's transition from early intervention to school system.
  • Attend child's IEP meeting, where applicable.
  • Coordinate curriculum with other team members for services within the child's natural environment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in child development, special education, or early childhood education.
  • At least 300 hours of practicum or work experience with children under the age of 3.
  • Being bilingual is preferred.
