PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary responsibility involves conducting diagnostic medical x-rays while adhering to established protocols. The role also encompasses performing laboratory tests across various disciplines including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, Microbiology, and Spirometry. Additionally, phlebotomy procedures such as venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks are integral to this position.

REPORTING STRUCTURE: This position reports directly to the Lab Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Conduct diagnostic medical x-rays in accordance with the Pediatric Associates' guidelines, ensuring accurate reporting of Radiology Reports, particularly highlighting any positive or critical findings.
  2. Execute laboratory testing procedures, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of results to healthcare professionals, and promptly notifying them of any critical or abnormal values.
  3. Perform routine quality control checks and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring that all supplies are adequately stocked and reordered as necessary.
  4. Document and report Radiology findings accurately, including any significant results.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Indoor settings with exposure to potential hazards.
  • Regular use of computers and other laboratory equipment.
  • Physical activities include sitting, walking, bending, and manual dexterity tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to see, hear, smell, and touch.
  • Capability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Lift and carry items weighing 10 lbs. or less.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: An Associate degree is mandatory, along with graduation from an accredited Radiology program (RT or BMO).

CERTIFICATIONS: CPR certification is required. Licenses from the Florida Department of Health (RT or BMO) and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists are necessary, along with a Phlebotomy certification.

EXPERIENCE: A minimum of one year of experience in a healthcare setting performing x-ray procedures is required. Familiarity with laboratory procedures and phlebotomy is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient knowledge of diagnostic x-ray techniques and processing.
  • Understanding of laboratory quality control standards.
  • Familiarity with medical safety practices and universal precautions.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
