Position Overview: This role holds the authority and responsibility for the provision of nursing care, utilizing the nursing process effectively. The individual in this position is accountable for applying proficient clinical knowledge and exercising independent nursing judgment in the care delivered by themselves and delegated healthcare providers, ensuring optimal patient care outcomes.

Essential Qualifications:

Education, Certification, and Licensure:

1. Must possess a current, unrestricted license with the appropriate state board of nursing as a registered professional nurse.

2. Graduate nurses are required to obtain licensure within a specified timeframe upon hire.

3. Certification in Basic Life Support is mandatory within a designated period post-hire.

Core Responsibilities: The following duties outline the general nature of work performed in this position. This list is not exhaustive and may include additional responsibilities.

1. Ensures safety and continuity of care through effective documentation and communication processes.

2. Develops comprehensive care plans utilizing the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation.

3. Identifies patient safety concerns and utilizes appropriate resources to address them.

4. Provides tailored education to patients based on their unique learning needs.

5. Incorporates individual patient data into the delivery of care.

6. Conducts thorough patient assessments and maintains accurate documentation.

7. Employs the teach-back method to evaluate the effectiveness of patient education.

8. Integrates Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) into nursing care.

9. Engages in a patient-centered care model within the organization.

10. Documents issues and concerns in the care plan.

11. Demonstrates growth in managing more complex patient cases through collaboration with experienced colleagues.

12. Commits to lifelong learning through self-reflection and inquiry.

13. Maintains accountability for all delegated nursing care.

14. Recognizes the scope of practice for all members of the interprofessional team.

15. Participates in holistic and culturally sensitive data collection.

16. Assesses the influence of family dynamics on patient health and wellness.

17. Applies the American Nursing Association (ANA)'s code of ethics to nursing practice.

18. Identifies discriminatory practices in healthcare for diverse populations.

19. Customizes care based on patients' beliefs, barriers, and readiness to learn.
