Potters Industries Inc is seeking a highly skilled Industrial Furnace Operator to join our team.

**Job Summary:**

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and controlling firebox and cutting wheel operations in our glass manufacturing plant. This role requires strong technical skills, excellent communication, and teamwork abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe operation of the plant by monitoring conditions, responding to unsafe situations, and performing tasks in a safe manner.
  • Routinely monitor Forehearth and Firebox Conditions, Cutting Wheel Temperatures, and cooling system.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance to switch out cutting wheels and foreheath bowls assemblies as needed.
  • Operate industrial instrumentation and PLCs, learning and using control systems and adjustments for fireboxes and cutting wheels.
  • Prepare hourly reports on gas, oxygen, temperature, water flow, and other operational metrics.
  • Monitor and report cullet transferred to the pad.
  • Assist the Lead Operator with monitoring the furnace as available.
  • Switch out and weigh cullet bins; transfer full bins to the cullet pad after weighing.
  • Maintain Fireboxes free of glass obstruction.
  • Ensure the plant operates within established safety, environmental, process, quality, and efficiency parameters.
  • Create work requests for maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Notify Management of any Safety concerns.
  • Comply with all HSE and housekeeping standards.
  • Assist with Batch House operations as needed.
  • Work with other departments to ensure product quality and make adjustments within area of control as needed.
  • Perform routine visual and audible inspections of all equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Familiarize yourself with all material processing flows and troubleshoot basic problems as they occur.
  • Certify and operate forklifts and front-end loaders in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of industrial experience, preferably with furnace or critical boiler operations.
  • 3-5 years of forklift operations and/or certification preferred.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Experience in plant safety systems, such as Confined Space entry, Hot Work permitting, and Lockout/Tagout of industrial equipment.
  • BASIC SKILLS IN AREAS OF INTERFACING WITH INDUSTRIAL INSTRUMENTATION AND PLCs.
  • Able to use computer - basic computer skills.
  • Strong Work Ethic, Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, Detail and Organizational Skills.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing Plant Environment.
  • Glass Manufacturing Plant environment with high ambient temperatures.

We offer a competitive salary range of $80,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience.
