Biotechnology Refrigeration Specialist

Piper Companies is an innovative start-up revolutionizing the food industry through cutting-edge biotechnology. We are seeking a highly skilled Ammonia Facilities Technician to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and effective operation of maintenance of various facility-related systems and brand-new equipment. This is a fully onsite position in the greater Raleigh area, with a 4 days on, 3 days off schedule. The ideal candidate should be flexible and able to work day or night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with operation and maintenance of ammonia refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with safety standards related to the PSM program.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance to uphold system integrity and prevent leaks.
• Help with the operation and minor maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Assist with general building maintenance as needed for electrical, plumbing, or structural components.
• Conduct regular safety audits wearing PPE and following best practices and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in the biotech or food manufacturing environment.
• Expertise in ammonia refrigeration (NH3) systems, HVAC systems, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to understand P&ID's.
• Basic PLC troubleshooting experience.
• OSHA 10 knowledge.
• Awareness of GMP for the food industry.
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts up to 12 hours.
• CARO or CIRO or CRST (preferred but not required).
• Certified in ammonia refrigeration operator 1, RETA 1.
• Certified in ammonia refrigeration operator 2, RETA 2 (preferred).

Compensation:

• Salary Range: $33-$45/hr, depending on location and years of experience.
