Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Laboratory Specialist to join our Spatial Biology Core team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing critical support to the laboratory, conducting daily activities, and ensuring the smooth operation of our research projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist faculty researchers in designing research projects, developing methods and procedures, and preparing research proposals.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of projects, including sample preparation, data collection, and analysis.
  • Supervise research activities and support personnel, providing guidance and training as needed.
  • Develop and implement lab policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and biohazard protocols.
  • Coordinate with research staff on issues impacting lab functions, including inventory management and equipment maintenance.
  • Act as liaison to other departments, divisions, or organizations, representing the Spatial Biology Core team.
  • Develop, design, and conduct small to moderately complex research projects or experiments, in line with project plans.
  • Coordinate data collection and screening, verifying data and reviewing progress.
  • Develop protocols and criteria, determine interview procedures, and approve protocols.
  • Conduct analyses of data, interpret research methodology, and implement results.
  • Co-author publications and present results with the Principal Investigator at meetings or conferences.
  • Provide guidance on hiring and training technical personnel, supervising, training, and instructing residents, interns, students, or other staff in lab techniques and procedures.
Additional Skills and Qualifications
  • Prepare, order, and maintain laboratory reagents and equipment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
  • Maintain lab records, ensuring compliance with safety and biohazard protocols.
  • Conduct research experiments under laboratory and safety protocols, maintaining accurate records of procedures.
  • Use laboratory/computer equipment to conduct analyses of experiment data, maintaining and calibrating equipment as needed.
  • Prepare chemical solutions for experimental use, handling and disposing of hazardous and non-hazardous materials under safety protocols.
  • Maintain and organize laboratory supplies, monitoring inventory levels and ordering or securing supplies as needed.
  • Maintain research facility in orderly, operable condition, ensuring security and safety of equipment, samples, specimens, and data.
