Job Title: Environmental Trainee

Join the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection as an Environmental Trainee and contribute to the preservation of our state's resources.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to participate in our one-year formal and on-the-job training program. As an Environmental Trainee, you will execute the regulations outlined in the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act within a designated region, aiming to safeguard public health and mitigate pollution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze plans, regulations, and policies related to environmental conservation and sustainability.
  • Conduct site assessments for on-lot and stream discharge systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Evaluate sewage enforcement officers' performance and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Review sewage planning modules, including exemption requests, and make recommendations for approval or denial.
  • Prepare detailed technical analyses and assist in evaluating official sewage facility plans and their updates.
Requirements:
  • Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field.
  • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
