Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Manager to join our team at Rogers Behavioral Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct systematic needs assessments to identify personal safety risks for patients and environmental safety risks in clinical and non-clinical environments.
  • Develop and implement training and supervision models to ensure patient safety and audit outcomes.
  • Conduct daily and weekly environmental safety risk rounds to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and monitoring to Milieu Specialists to ensure they are meeting safety standards.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly competency assessments for Milieu Specialists and maintain documentation of such.
  • Round on new employees to assess their knowledge and understanding of safety protocols.
  • Assist units in conducting staff debriefings after code greens are called and document debriefings.
  • Create and implement a physical environment plan that assures patient safety.
  • Provide training and education to staff on safety protocols and procedures.
  • Maintain schedules and time for assigned Milieu Specialists.
  • Conduct video reviews of restraints and seclusions audits and retrain staff as needed.
  • Partner with approved third-party consultants to provide training programs.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to address individual patients who present high patient safety risk factors.
  • Observe and evaluate the progress of trainees and provide mentoring, supervision, counseling, and planning for individual trainee improvement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, social work, nursing, or a healthcare-related field.
  • Minimum of three years' progressive people and healthcare facility leadership experience.
  • One to three years' healthcare experience in patient safety, risk, and/or quality.
  • Certified Instructor for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) within six months from the date of hire.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) software and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Valid driver's license and insurable status by the Rogers Memorial Hospital insurance policy.
