Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a Configuration Management Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and regulate the configuration of hardware, software, firmware, licenses, and other complex systems to ensure compliance with organizational standards and requirements. You will be instrumental in documenting, tracking, and implementing configuration changes to mitigate disruptions and risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute configuration management strategies that define the processes for managing configuration items (CIs).
  • Identify and catalog all configuration items within the organization, including software, hardware, documentation, and other assets.
  • Establish and uphold version control for all configuration items, ensuring that modifications are documented, tracked, and authorized in accordance with established processes and policies.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all configuration items, including specifications, manuals, and operational procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure configurations align with established baselines and documentation.
  • Support the utilization of configuration management tools to store, track, and manage configuration items (e.g., DOORS, Eclipse, Support IT).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, and operations, to ensure smooth integration of configurations and maintain the configuration management environment for hardware and software product builds, staging, testing, and integration.
  • Develop and enforce version control processes, policies, and procedures across all projects.
  • Identify and address configuration-related risks and issues that may affect organizational operations and projects.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance configuration management processes, tools, and methodologies, serving as an advisor to the Government Change Control Board (CCB).

Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants. Columbia Technology Partners is an equal opportunity employer and adheres to applicable employment laws and regulations.   • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in Configuration Management within programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Alternatively, four (4) years of additional Configuration Management experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree, totaling ten (10) years of experience in Configuration Management.
