Position Overview

Become an integral part of a leading academic healthcare institution, The University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, as a Registered Nurse within our Obstetrics Division. This role requires a 100% onsite presence and is intended for candidates residing in the greater Chicagoland area.

Under the guidance of the Manager, the Registered Nurse serves as a vital resource in clinical nursing and professional practice. This position entails coordinating and delivering direct nursing care to patients, employing the principles of the nursing process, and acting as a resource, mentor, and leader for physicians, professional colleagues, and other staff members. Additionally, the Registered Nurse provides collaborative supervision to the Patient Care Team Members in conjunction with the Patient Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engages closely with physicians to assess, develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate patient care plans and outcomes.
  • Exhibits the requisite skills and knowledge to deliver complex nursing care and delegates tasks to other Care Team members in accordance with unit-specific competencies, tailored to the age of the patients served as outlined in the Patient Care Center's Scope of Care.
  • Accountable for monitoring the quality of patient care and ensuring patient satisfaction.
  • Proactively seeks professional development opportunities.
  • Takes responsibility for ensuring the effective and efficient daily operations of the Patient Care Center.
  • Adheres to established service standards and supports the Vision of Ingalls Hospital.
  • Collaborates with other patient care team members to identify and address individual patient, family, and physician needs, exceeding expectations and fostering positive customer relations.
  • Understands, follows, and actively promotes the philosophy, mission, and Vision of Ingalls Hospital.
  • Complies with all hospital policies, procedures, and standards of care.
  • Observes and adheres to all corporate compliance requirements, reporting issues as they arise in accordance with the Corporate Compliance Plan.

Qualifications Required

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher.
  • Possession of a current RN Licensure from the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulation or a valid temporary permit to practice nursing in Illinois.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification (Healthcare Provider Recognition) is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in acute care or related nursing practice within the last five years.
