The Finance and Grants Manager for Global Health is tasked with overseeing a budget of $10 million, providing essential support through financial oversight, grant reporting, and strategic project analysis for the management team. This role requires close collaboration with the Global Health team and various departments within the UN Foundation, including Business Services, Budget Reporting, Strategic Planning, and Finance, to ensure effective execution of all financial, operational, contractual, and grant-related activities.
This position operates under a hybrid work model.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Oversight
- Oversee the Global Health team's budget, monitoring income and expenditures across the organization.
- Utilize UN Foundation financial systems to extract and analyze data, maintaining an up-to-date budget model.
- Ensure accurate allocation of funds across donor budgets.
- Prepare cash flow projections and budget variance analyses.
- Maintain a financial dashboard to monitor actual versus projected cash flow and budget variances.
- Manage accounts payable, including invoice processing and tracking deliverables from consultants.
- Create high-level funding briefs and project summaries for senior management as needed.
- Model various budget scenarios to assist in strategic decision-making.
- Reconcile corporate credit card statements and approve expense reports.
Donor Engagement and Reporting
- Oversee timelines and processes for donor proposals and reporting.
- Develop and manage a reporting calendar for the team.
- Facilitate a collaborative approach to track progress against performance indicators as part of annual reporting.
- Prepare budget reports in accordance with donor specifications.
- Engage with donor program officers to present budget reports and clarify results.
- Identify new funding opportunities and assist in proposal development, coordinating with relevant departments for necessary programmatic and financial information.
- Address issues related to program and grant implementation.
- Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Grants, Contracts, and Compliance Management
- Oversee all contracts and grants related to Global Health.
- Collaborate with the central contracts team to draft and amend agreements, ensuring compliance with UN Foundation policies.
- Facilitate contract negotiations with external parties and guide agreements through internal approval processes.
- Ensure compliance with UN Foundation policies and donor regulations.
- Coordinate with donors, vendors, and grantees to ensure timely processing of agreements and reports.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for all work products to support institutional knowledge retention.
- Respond promptly to internal inquiries and external audit requests.
Internal Coordination
- Develop and implement tools to enhance workflow efficiency and team collaboration.
- Manage business planning processes, preparing updates and revisions as necessary.
- Act as a liaison with various UN Foundation departments to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service by delivering accurate information to stakeholders.
- Maintain familiarity with the UNF agreement process and relevant templates.
- Draft and review agreements, consulting with finance and contracts teams as needed.
- Participate in training sessions to stay informed about current policies and procedures.
- Utilize the UNF Salesforce database for agreement processing and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- 5-6 years of relevant experience.
- Strong operational, project management, organizational, budgeting, and logistical skills.
- Experience managing complex budgets and preparing detailed financial reports for donors.
- Ability to conduct strategic analysis of projects and provide best practice recommendations.
- Experience drafting various agreement types (contracts, grants, MOUs).
- Background in grants coordination or administration is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
- Capability to lead projects from inception to completion independently.
- Commitment to continuous learning and information synthesis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of the United Nations system and interest in International Development or the non-profit sector is a plus.
