Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to join our team at Berry Global. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing technical, quality, and procedural leadership on production shifts. Your expertise will ensure adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards, while driving efficiency and productivity.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Guidance: Provide guidance and leadership to production, quality, maintenance, and warehouse drivers during shift hours.
- Safety and Quality: Ensure adherence to safety, quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safety Quality Foods (SQF), and ISO standards and programs.
- Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of team members, enforce policy, and administer disciplinary action when necessary.
- Process Improvement: Make recommendations for improved and more efficient methods of operation.
- Production Reporting: Ensure accuracy of production reporting (JDE/WEBEFF) and adhere to all manufacturing standards and production schedules.
- Communication: Effectively communicate company directives and plant information to staff via regular meetings.
- Production Coordination: Coordinate production activities for manufacturing areas to ensure production goals of EFF and MEEF are achieved.
- Documentation: Complete and submit production-related paperwork.
- Compliance: Maintain and adhere to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.
- Emergency Response: Respond to any emergency or potential emergency.
- Quality Control: Assist in the prevention of nonconforming product from being shipped to customers.
- Problem Identification: Identify and record problems relating to product, process, and quality systems.
- Training and Development: Track, confirm, and verify training for employees in the department and schedule training as needed and required.
- Continuous Improvement: Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems.
- Safety Leadership: Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Risk Assessment: Actively lead risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritizing corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health, or safety risks.
- Meetings and Investigations: Lead all required meetings with safety (ie. Pre-Shift, Departmental, Change Management, General Communications, Town Hall, etc.) and completes incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
- Employee Development: Ensure the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Goal Setting: Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Coaching and Feedback: Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all Quality, ISO, and SQF Plans are understood and followed by staff.
- Quality Checks: Confirm that all quality checks are being performed by all production personnel as established by the Quality Plans.
- Quality Defects: Work closely with the quality inspectors and supervisor to identify and minimize quality defects and complaints.
- Efficient Operations: Lead staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner by providing definition of job duties.
- Training Opportunities: Provide training opportunities for staff.
- Performance Evaluations: Conducting performance evaluations.
- Succession Planning: Defining criteria for personnel succession planning.
- Coaching and Counseling: Administer coaching/counseling as required in a timely manner.
- Attendance Records: Provide accurate attendance records to human resources indicating any point assessments.
- Personnel Policies: Enforce personnel policies and procedures and complete and submit all associated paperwork in a timely manner.
- Safe Working Conditions: Maintain safe working conditions.
- Special Projects: Assist other departments with special projects as assigned.
- Production Management: Actively participate in production management team meetings as requested.
- Equipment and Tooling: Recommend/justify equipment/tooling purchases.
