Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to join our team at Berry Global Inc. As a key member of our production management team, you will be responsible for providing technical, quality, procedural, and associate leadership on production shifts.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Guidance: Provide guidance and leadership to production, quality, maintenance, and warehouse drivers during shift hours.
- Safety and Quality: Ensure adherence to safety, quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safety Quality Foods (SQF), and ISO standards and programs.
- Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the performance of team members, enforce policy, and administer disciplinary action when necessary.
- Process Improvement: Make recommendations for improved and more efficient methods of operation.
- Production Reporting: Control rework and regrind levels, determine utilization of workforce based on production demands, and ensure accuracy of production reporting.
- Communication: Effectively communicate company directives and plant information to staff via regular meetings.
- Production Coordination: Coordinate production activities for manufacturing areas to ensure production goals of EFF and MEEF are achieved.
- Documentation: Complete and submit production-related paperwork.
- Compliance: Maintain and adhere to established Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP) and Safety Quality Foods (SQF) compliance requirements.
- Emergency Response: Respond to any emergency or potential emergency.
- Quality Control: Constant vigilance and participation in GMP and SQF practices, assist in the prevention of nonconforming product from being shipped to customers, and identify and record problems relating to product, process, and quality systems.
- Training and Development: Track, confirm, and verify training for employees in the department and schedule training as needed and required.
- Incident Investigation: Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product or quality systems, initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels, and suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems.
- Safety Leadership: Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Risk Assessment: Actively lead risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritizing corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health, or safety risks.
- Meetings and Communication: Lead all required meetings with safety, completes incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
- Employee Development: Ensure the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible, sets goals for their organizational unit, achieves goals, and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Performance Management: Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback, identifies and coordinates additional training as needed, and ensures that all Quality, ISO, and SQF Plans are understood and followed by staff.
- Quality Assurance: Confirm that all quality checks are being performed by all production personnel as established by the Quality Plans, work closely with the quality inspectors and supervisor to identify and minimize quality defects and complaints, and lead staff to accomplish activities in an efficient and safe manner by providing definition of job duties.
- Personnel Management: Provide training opportunities for staff, conducting performance evaluations, defining criteria for personnel succession planning, administer coaching/counseling as required in a timely manner, and provide accurate attendance records to human resources indicating any point assessments.
- Policy Enforcement: Enforce personnel policies and procedures and complete and submit all associated paperwork in a timely manner.
- Facilities Maintenance: Maintain safe working conditions and assist other departments with special projects as assigned.
- Team Participation: Actively participate in production management team meetings as requested and recommend/justify equipment/tooling purchases.
