Job Summary

The Financial Record Specialist will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for all Tribal programs and operations. This position will provide financial advice and assistance to, and is directly responsible to, the Accounting Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Accounting Manager
  • Records day-to-day financial transactions and completes the posting process
  • Verifies that transactions are recorded in the correct day book, supplier's ledger, customer ledger, and general ledger
  • Brings the books to the trial balance stage
  • Performs partial checks of the posting process
  • Completes tax forms
  • Enters data, maintains records, and creates reports and financial statements
  • Processes accounts receivable/payable and handles payroll in a timely manner
  • Processes General Assistance payments to tribal membership
Requirements
  • Proven bookkeeping experience
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office, and Accufund
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Education in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School with some College preferred
  • Up to three years' experience as Bookkeeper preferred
