Position Overview

We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the role of CDL Operator and Construction Laborer. The ideal candidate will possess a valid driver's license and demonstrate a willingness to engage in various construction tasks.

This role involves the transportation of heavy machinery to multiple job sites and requires the individual to assist in construction operations, including manual labor for the installation of underground telecommunications cabling and sewer pipelines. The candidate should be prepared to participate in an on-call rotation to support their team. We value motivated, collaborative, and diligent employees who aspire to advance within our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute general construction tasks under the supervision of the Foreman/Supervisor.
  • Utilize hand tools to excavate holes and trenches.
  • Balance approximately 80% labor duties with 20% driving responsibilities involving CDL class vehicles.
  • Possess a foundational understanding of underground cable locating.
  • Operate a variety of trucks and machinery effectively.
  • Transport equipment and materials as needed.
  • Install underground telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Manage traffic flow and establish safety perimeters using appropriate signage and barriers.
  • Conduct daily inspections and report any mechanical issues.
  • Communicate effectively with both customers and team members.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license with Class A CDL.
  • Ability to climb in and out of various types of equipment.
  • Experience operating or working near heavy machinery.
  • Familiarity with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations.
  • Capable of repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, feet, head, and shoulders.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in diverse environmental conditions.
  • Ability to work in congested and remote locations.
  • Willingness to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Capability to work in confined spaces and at varying heights/depths.
  • Able to lift and carry loads of up to 75+ pounds.
  • Proficient in bending, stooping, and reaching during tasks.
  • Maintain visual and audible awareness of crew members and surrounding vehicles/objects for safety.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous standing, walking on uneven surfaces, turning, stooping, kneeling, and communicating are essential.

Work Environment:

  • Exposure to various outdoor weather conditions.
  • Potential exposure to wet, humid, cold, and hot environments.
  • Noise levels may be high in the work area.
  • Frequent interaction with moving traffic.
