Job Title: Heavy Civil Superintendent

Thalle Construction is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Heavy Civil Superintendent to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the coordination of labor staffing, equipment needs, and means and methods guidance for field construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the hiring of labor staffing and equipment needs for field construction projects
  • Provide guidance and oversight of construction quality control, including inspections and testing
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Field Superintendents to determine labor staffing needs and plan for internal and external labor resources
  • Act as the initial field contact for means and methods determination and coordinate with the Engineering team and other resources
  • Ensure proper coordination and arrival of equipment to sites
  • Manage site superintendent responsibilities on assigned large projects
  • Participate in the management of daily operational issues, including long-term planning and resource coordination
  • Plan and execute weekly field meetings to update field staff on current projects, bids, staffing, and equipment moves
  • Assist the Estimating Department in the review of major and complex projects
  • Ensure company policies and operational procedures are understood and implemented consistently

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or minimum proven experience
  • At least fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in civil construction, including estimating, project management, equipment, scheduling, cost control, and personnel administration
  • Ability to read and understand technical and statistical data, interpret construction drawings, architectural drawings, and specifications
  • Prior experience effectively leading construction operations
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Advanced knowledge of the heavy civil construction industry
  • Ability to effectively mentor professional development of field management
  • Self-starter capable of improving operations processes
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Sound judgment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone
