Director of Land Entitlements and Permitting

We have an exciting career opportunity for a seasoned land entitlement and development professional to join our team at the John Hughes Company in Florida.

Our company is a leading Real Estate and Land Development Company based in Florida, with a proven track record of creating impactful place-making and revitalizations across the state through master-planned vibrant mixed-use communities.

This key role can be located out of the Orlando or Jacksonville market and will focus on entitlements, prioritizing:

  • Managing land development project design, permitting, and entitlements using a team of consultants.
  • Coordinating necessary permits, approvals, easements, agreements, applications, mitigation, propshares, etc.
  • Leading weekly design team calls with consultants to drive progress and mitigate surprises.
  • Building relationships with county staff and regulatory agencies to stay on schedule and address challenges.
  • Assisting with Community Development District (CDD) establishment and bond offerings/sales.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, planning, landscape architecture, construction management, real estate, or related field preferred.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in site entitlement, planning, design, and development management.
  • Prior residential homebuilding, multi-family, commercial experience or residential engineering experience working with homebuilders, commercial, or land development clients is relevant.
  • Ability to read and interpret grading plans, blueprints, civil plans, landscape plans, etc.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and communication skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, be a self-starter, and advocate for projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and good follow-up skills.

An estimated salary for this position is around $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
