Pipefitting Instructor

We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated Pipefitting Instructor to support the training needs of our students. As a member of our training team, you will play a crucial role in the training and qualification of students requiring initial and refresher training at Quonset Point.

• Instruct multiple courses in a variety of topics, including pipefitting, fall protection, respirator, and other general training courses
• Direct and assess hands-on training with mockups and related exercises
• Enforce safety rules and regulations in training and during deck plate audits
• Assess student performance and identify nonconformance to policies, procedures, and technical documents
• Support various course content reviews and related activities
• Conduct assessments as scheduled
• Meet with HR Business Partners regarding student performance as needed
• Consistently grade tests and quizzes to ensure knowledge capture and understanding of training topics
• Communicate with other Training shifts to advance work and communicate issues
• Support special training projects as required
• Support the Training department goals and objectives with other responsibilities as assigned

• Possess a High school diploma (minimum)
• Have a minimum of 2 years of pipefitting experience
• Have a minimum of 2 years of Electric Boat experience
• Must be able to climb a ladder and don a Safety Harness as required
• Must be able to travel throughout the facility to facilitate training as required
• The selected candidate will be need to be flexible to support training on all shifts. Shift assignment will be based on business need.
• Must possess the ability to work additional overtime as directed (including weekends)

• Prior experience teaching
• Nuclear trade experience
• Associates Degree

• Have a strong ability to prioritize and complete multiple complex tasks and projects
• Demonstrate an ability to problem solve
• Have a strong ability to lead and direct in a classroom environment
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
• Have experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Have a demonstrated commitment to customer-service, safety & procedure compliance
• Have a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed
• Have a willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of leaning abilities
