Position Overview

The Mobile Solutions Business Unit is on the lookout for a seasoned Senior Manager of Applications Engineering to guide a skilled team of applications engineers at our Design Center. This team plays a crucial role in facilitating customer adoption of our leading-edge products, integrating them into their projects while ensuring effective communication between our internal teams and clients. The ideal candidate will have a profound understanding of fundamental RF and phone-level design, possess troubleshooting experience, demonstrate strong software skills, exhibit excellent leadership qualities, and be a dedicated team player with outstanding communication abilities. Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  1. Engaging with both internal and external stakeholders
  2. Designing evaluation boards and radio hardware
  3. Verifying and assessing products in development to ensure compliance with device and system-level specifications
  4. Providing phone-level application design support to meet industry standards and enhance customer production reliability
  5. Assisting in troubleshooting and resolving device production challenges
  6. Collaborating with customers and internal teams to define device-level requirements and conduct system trade-off analyses
  7. Partnering with the quality team to support failure analysis initiatives
  8. Providing frequent on-site support to secure successful design wins
  9. Optimizing TX/RX performance while understanding the trade-offs involved
Qualifications and Skills
  1. BSEE with 15 years of experience or MSEE with a minimum of 12 years of experience, including expertise in phone-level RF systems engineering
  2. Experience in managing engineers with varying levels of expertise
  3. Proven experience in a customer-facing role, with strong communication skills to effectively interface with clients
  4. Desirable experience in wireless handset applications of TX/RX in GSM/C2K/WCDMA/LTE systems; NR experience is a plus, along with RF PCB design, testing, and troubleshooting of RF circuits and phone boards
  5. Strong theoretical foundation in RF and systems design
  6. Extensive experience in impedance matching for mobile phones and a solid understanding of Tx/Rx parameters and FDD/TDD products
  7. Proficient in system-level debugging using phone tools
  8. Hands-on skills in soldering and equipment handling, including Base Station Emulator (CMW100/500 & UXM), Network Analyzer, Signal Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, and Noise Figure Meter
  9. Familiarity with software skills in C++ and Python for PXIe and ET bench, as well as Auto test bench setup is advantageous
  10. Experience in Tier 1 customer support is a plus

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $136,800 - $271,500 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others. Employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan, and certain roles are also eligible for additional awards, including recognition and stock.
