Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Logistics Support Specialist will be instrumental in enhancing the efficiency of shipping and receiving operations. This role involves assisting with incoming shipments, maintaining effective communication with transport personnel, overseeing inventory checks, and guiding the shipping team to ensure the smooth loading and unloading of goods.

Primary Responsibilities:

Management of Incoming Shipments:

Facilitate the organization and scheduling of incoming shipments.

Ensure the accurate and timely receipt of all incoming deliveries.

Provide essential instructions and information to transport personnel.

Inspect and verify the condition of received goods against shipping documents.

Effective Communication with Transport Personnel:

Establish and maintain clear communication with transport personnel to guarantee seamless delivery and collection processes.

Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise during shipments.

Inventory Oversight:

Assist in monitoring and managing inventory levels to maintain precise records.

Conduct regular audits and cycle counts of inventory.

Report any discrepancies or shortages to the Logistics Supervisor.

Coordination of Shipping Team:

Lead the shipping team in the efficient and safe unloading and loading of goods.

Ensure that all shipments are accurately prepared and dispatched in a timely manner.

Assist in training and mentoring shipping team members as necessary.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive records of all inbound and outbound shipments.

Prepare and submit necessary reports and documentation to the Logistics Supervisor.

Safety and Compliance:

Ensure that all shipping and receiving activities adhere to company policies and safety regulations.

Promote a safe working environment by following and enforcing established safety protocols.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is advantageous.

Demonstrated experience in a shipping and receiving role, ideally in a supervisory or assistant capacity.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to lift and handle heavy items as required.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

Working Environment:

This position involves working in a warehouse setting.

Must be capable of standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.

May require working overtime or weekends during peak operational periods.
