About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Safety Director to join our team at Royal Electric Company. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for advancing our company's safety culture and ensuring the well-being of our employees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advance the company safety culture by influencing key relationships and building trust with field employees.
  • Collaborate with superintendents to anticipate project needs and provide support and knowledge to project teams.
  • Create strategies with senior leaders to continuously improve safety culture and implement new initiatives as needed.
  • Build relationships with client safety managers to positively impact safety on projects.
  • Create annual safety business plans to proactively plan initiatives, training, safety budgets, and vendor relationships.
  • Create monthly dashboards of safety metrics and status of initiative implementation.
  • Ensure company safety policies are a valuable resource to field operations.
  • Provide training to field teams on accessing and using safety resources and technology.
  • Develop processes for documenting and enforcing safety policies for consistency and accountability.
  • Stay current with OSHA and other legally required reports.
  • Promote collaboration between safety department and field operations.
  • Participate in job startup meetings to create safety plans and review customers' safety manuals.
  • Perform crisis management after major incidents or events.
  • Proactively provide training for the safety department.
  • Coordinate vendors for training as needed.
  • Develop and implement an incentive program to promote good safety behavior.
Requirements
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in a safety manager or director level role.
  • High school diploma minimum, bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, safety engineering or related field preferred.
  • Preferred certifications: STSC, SHST, ASP, CSP.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and other safety regulations.
  • Experience with health and safety management systems.
  • Good problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Participate in Royal Leadership Team meetings quarterly.
