Job Summary:

Bridgewater Dairy, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Animal Scientist to join our team. As an Animal Scientist, you will be responsible for implementing herd health and animal reproduction programs for milk production and related animal breeding operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with animal breeding operations through animal servicing, artificial insemination, heat synchronization, calving processes, and calf feeding program.
  • Implement sick cow and vaccine protocols to ensure the health and well-being of our herd.
  • Provide training on correct techniques to assist cows with obstructed labor, ensuring the safety and comfort of both the animal and the handler.
  • Report fresh cows and new born calves in Dairy Comp 305 program and maintain accurate herd inventory records.
  • Generate progress and cow movement reports to inform decision-making and drive business growth.
  • Use data to develop measures to reduce metritis and minimize stress on cows and calves, promoting a healthy and productive herd.
  • Detect, monitor, and treat health conditions, including mastitis, pneumonia, and respiratory problems, to prevent the spread of disease and maintain herd health.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate's degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience in livestock care, with a focus on herd health and animal reproduction.
  • Specific background in herd health and animal reproduction, with knowledge of best practices and industry standards.
