JOB TITLE:Animal Scientist (Multiple Openings)

JOB DUTIES: Responsible for implementing herd health and animal reproduction programs for milk production and related animal breeding operation. Specific duties include: (1) assisting with animal breeding operations through animal servicing, artificial insemination, heat synchronization, calving processes, and calf feeding program; (2) implementing sick cow and vaccine protocols; (3) providing training on correct techniques to assist cows with obstructed labor; (4) reporting fresh cows and new born calves in Dairy Comp 305 program and maintaining herd inventory; (5) generating progress and cow movement reports; (6) using data to develop measures to reduce metritis and minimize stress on cows and calves; and (7) detecting, monitoring, and treating health conditions, including mastitis, pneumonia, and respiratory problems.

REQUIREMENTS:Associate’s degree in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or related; one year of livestock experience; and specific background in herd health.
