As a Senior Injury Claims Adjuster at USAA, you will play a critical role in facilitating the financial security of millions of U.S. military members and their families. Your primary responsibility will be to adjust attorney-involved moderately complex bodily injury and UM claims, as well as catastrophic auto PIP/MP medical claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and manage existing and emerging risks associated with business activities.
- Ensure risks are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follow written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
- Adjust attorney-involved moderately complex bodily injury claims with demonstrable injuries and UM claims, as well as all auto physical damage associated with those claims.
- Adjust catastrophic 1st party PIP/MP medical claims.
- Identify, confirm, and make coverage decisions on moderately complex bodily injury claims or catastrophic PIP/MP medical claims.
- Investigate loss details, determine legal liability, evaluate, negotiate, and arrive at claim settlement within appropriate authority guidelines.
- Clearly document thought process, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and settlement decisions.
- Prioritize and manage assigned claims workload to keep members and other involved parties informed, provide timely claims status updates.
- Collaborate and support team members to resolve issues and identify appropriate matters for escalation.
- Partner and/or direct vendors and internal business partners to facilitate timely claims resolution.
- Support workload surges and/or Catastrophe Operations as needed.
- May act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- 2 years of auto liability or casualty adjusting experience.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of the auto claims contract, as well as application of case law and state laws and regulations.
- Acquisition and maintenance of insurance adjuster license within 90 days and designated number of attempts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 or more years auto liability/casualty adjusting experience.
- 1yr Medical experience to include coding and billing or EMT.
- Ongoing Professional Development with a focus on Insurance.
- Bachelors degree or higher.
- US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.
What We Offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $61,110 - $116,800.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
