As a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Technologist with Memorial Hermann Health System, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care by performing various laboratory tests and procedures. This is a supplemental PRN position, offering varied shifts to accommodate your schedule.
Key Responsibilities- Test Performance and Documentation: Perform and document test results, quality control, maintenance procedures, and associated corrective actions according to policy and procedure.
- Lab Operations Management: Manage and perform other aspects of daily lab operations, including collections, sample processing, results reporting and distribution, personnel direction, and clerical duties as required to maintain efficient workflow.
- Customer Service and Communication: Interact with hospital personnel, volunteers, physicians, and patients regarding specimens and orders coming into the laboratory and/or reporting results out according to policies and procedures.
- Regulatory Compliance: Comply with policies, procedures, and initiatives of laboratory services, the hospital, and the system, understanding and communicating standards and conditions set forth by various governmental and accrediting agencies.
- Quality Patient Care and Customer Service: Perform duties in a manner to promote quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction, while promoting safety, cost efficiency, and a commitment to the PI process.
- Professional Growth and Development: Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications; promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Biological Science (equivalency required for foreign education)
- Licenses/Certifications: Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International), Certified CLS (ASCP), Certified MLS (ASCP or ASCP-International) CM or ASCP Certification eligible
- ASCP Certification Eligible: Bachelor's degree in Biological Science and one of the following:
- Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited MLS program within the last 5 years
- MLT (ASCP) certification and two years of full-time acceptable laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last four years
- CLA (ASCP) certification and a bachelor's degree in a biological science and four years of full-time acceptable experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last eight years
- Five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids in the U.S., Canada, or an accredited laboratory within the last ten years
