Senior Associate General Counsel for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency

The Department of Defense is seeking a highly qualified Senior Associate General Counsel to serve as the Division Chief of Legal Operations and Business Management for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA). This is a critical role that requires a seasoned attorney with expertise in Congressional affairs, privacy and civil liberties, administrative law, national security law, and international law.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice to senior officials on a wide range of matters, including Congressional affairs, public affairs, intelligence oversight, and privacy and civil liberties.
- Oversee the integration of the portfolios across the five legal divisions in the Office of General Counsel (OGC): OGCX, Mission and International Law (OGCM), Administrative Law and Litigation (OGCA), Acquisition and Fiscal Law (OGCP), and Science and Technology (OGCS).
- Supervise all attorneys assigned to the Legal Operations Management Division and the OGC Attorney Manager.
- Oversee, through the OGC Chief of Staff, all corporate officers, paralegals, and legal program specialists.
- Actively participate in the management of OGC as a member of the OGC Senior Steering Group.
- Graduation from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association with an L.L.B. or J.D. and an active member in good standing of a Bar of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. Territory or Commonwealth.
- At least seven (7) years of post-licensure practice as an attorney.
- Working knowledge of and experience in Congressional affairs, privacy and civil liberties, administrative law, national security law, International law, Government procurement, Federal civil litigation, the law and policies pertaining to Federal personnel and employment, fiscal matters, standards of conduct, environment and installations, personnel security and the diverse range of legal matters encountered by a Federal agency Office of General Counsel.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills to effectively and efficiently serve as Senior Associate General Counsel, lead the people and operations of the OGC Legal Operations and Business Management Division, and contribute meaningfully to the leadership and management of the NGA Office of General Counsel.
- Postgraduate degree (LL.M.) in a relevant legal field.
- Experience in managing a law office budget and resources, as well as providing professional development for subordinate attorneys, corporate officers, paralegals, and legal program specialists.
This position requires access to classified Defense Department and Intelligence Community information. The individual selected must already possess, or be immediately eligible for, a TOP SECRET security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information.
