Role Overview:

The Environmental Research Assistant will aid in the operational management of the Young Leaders Award initiative in partnership with the Program Coordinator and the wider team. This role will involve conducting research to enhance various components of the program, including development, logistics, network management, and strategic growth. The assistant will also collaborate with team members involved in youth and fellowship initiatives.

This position reports directly to the Director of Research and Innovation and collaborates closely with the Program Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the management and engagement of the Young Leaders Award initiative, with opportunities to contribute to additional programming;
  • Assist in the nomination process for the Young Leaders Award cohort;
  • Develop ongoing evaluation and reporting mechanisms to enhance program effectiveness;
  • Collaborate with and learn from external organizations and experts in sustainability and social innovation;
  • Organize meetings/events and maintain agendas;
  • Ensure proper use of technology for all operations (video conferencing, presentations);
  • Prepare necessary documentation and procure materials;
  • Maintain updated records and generate reports or proposals;
  • Conduct online research (articles, reports) and summarize findings;
  • Participate in stakeholder meetings and document notes;
  • Manage and respond to project-related communications.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Proficient in computer applications including Google Drive, Gmail, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and communication tools such as Slack and Zoom;
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills;
  • Adept at summarizing complex information;
  • Exceptional written communication abilities;
  • Capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Professional demeanor and responsible work ethic;
  • Demonstrated commitment to climate action, sustainability, and conservation efforts.
