POSITION SUMMARY

The Surgical Services Technician is integral to the surgical team, providing essential support during operations and ensuring efficient workflow under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

This role involves direct patient care as a scrub or instrument technician, managing sterile environments, passing surgical instruments, and ensuring precise instrument counts.

The Technician also assists with patient positioning and mobility as instructed.

Focusing on delivering timely and professional care, maintaining confidentiality, and showing respect, the Technician works collaboratively with the healthcare team to meet patient needs and departmental goals.

Upholding high standards of customer service, engaging in performance enhancement initiatives, and pursuing professional development are vital aspects of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent with proficiency in English.
  • Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or possession of a certified surgical technologist credential.
  • Advanced Certification is preferred but not essential.
  • Familiarity with Clinical Applications is beneficial.
  • BLSHCP certification is mandatory upon hire or transfer.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
The Technician is expected to demonstrate the competencies outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential exposure to hazards typical of a hospital setting requires vigilance, including risks associated with infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The role necessitates standing, reaching, and walking, as well as lifting weights up to 60 lbs. Additionally, it demands excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and the ability to retain information.

SUPERVISION

This position reports directly to the Clinical Director in Perioperative Services, encompassing a wide range of responsibilities crucial for the successful operation of the surgical suite.
