Responsibilities:
Position Overview

Manage a caseload of 4-5 families, requiring intensive treatment with each family met at least three times weekly.

Create personalized treatment plans for each case, conducting regular assessments and evaluations of treatment progress.

Ensure all sessions are documented within a specified timeframe using web-based documentation, with many locations offering voice-recognition technology.

Maintain on-call availability for clients during weekdays, with counselors rotating on-call duties on weekends, typically requiring one on-call weekend per month.

Travel up to 60-80 miles to provide in-home support to families across various settings and communities.

Collaborate closely with various forms of clinical supervision, both individually and in group settings, led by trained and licensed MST professionals. Progress reviews are conducted at frequent intervals.

Establish strong community connections and resources to support families as part of the treatment process.

Additional Information

Work schedule is flexible and non-traditional, tailored to the availability of the youth and families served.

Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, a personal vehicle for work-related purposes, and auto insurance.

Community-based staff will receive reimbursement for applicable mileage.

Qualifications:
Qualifications for Family Support Specialists


It is Youth Villages' policy to employ only those counselors who meet the Qualified Professional standard in the state of North Carolina.

Master's Degree Applicants:
Must have the degree at the time of application

Degree must be in a relevant field of study (refer to the list below)

Must possess one year of full-time experience (2,000 hours) with the designated population, either pre- or post-graduation.

Bachelor's Degree Applicants:
Must have the degree at the time of application

Degree must be in a relevant field of study (refer to the list below)

Must possess two years of full-time experience (4,000 hours) with the designated population, either pre- or post-graduation.

Licensed Applicants:
Must hold one of the following licenses in the state of

North Carolina:
LCMHCA, LMFTA, LCSWA, LPA, or LCSASA

Degrees Accepted:
Social Work

Counseling

Psychology

Criminal Justice

Marriage and Family Therapy


Exceptions may be considered for other degrees in behavioral sciences that include a minimum of 30 semester hours in human development, human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.


Experience Accepted:
Experience must be with at-risk youth, including those exhibiting:

Truancy, Alcohol/Substance Abuse, Homicidal/Suicidal Ideations, Problematic Sexual Behavior, Verbal/Physical Aggression, Running Away, Antisocial Behaviors.

Experience should encompass clinical case management or the practice of therapeutic interventions.

Other Skills Required:
Excellent written, verbal, and oral communication skills

Exceptional time-management abilities

Capability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Experience in family therapy or providing MST services is advantageous.

Salary

$50,000- $58,000 / salary based on education and clinical license
