Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at InsideHigherEd. As a key member of our HR department, you will play a critical role in providing expert guidance and support to managers and employees on a range of employee relations issues.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues, providing coaching and guidance to leadership on appropriate resolutions.
  2. Promote positive employee relations programs and initiatives, including conflict and dispute resolution services.
  3. Compile and analyze interview and investigation information, preparing detailed reports and collaborating with leadership on outcomes.
  4. Develop and maintain progressive discipline policy and guidelines.
  5. Stay up-to-date on legal requirements related to employee management, ensuring regulatory compliance and reducing legal risks.
  6. Collaborate with the Employee Training and Development Consultant to provide guidance on performance concerns and poor performance.
  7. Develop and implement a tracking system for employee relations cases, analyzing data to inform HR strategies and identify opportunities for training and development.
  8. Prepare reports and gather information as requested on employee complaints and disputes.
  9. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation, revising and drafting policies as needed.
  10. Stay current on key developments, trends, and changes to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
  11. Contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse, and respectful work environment, demonstrating a multicultural awareness and promoting a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience managing employee relations issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and confidentiality.

Work Environment: Most of the work of the incumbent is carried out within a generally accessible, safe, indoor environment. The incumbent will be required to use a personal computer and associated equipment as well as other office equipment used in the day-to-day operations. The incumbent may need to deliver various materials on campus requiring the ability to walk or drive or make other travel arrangements.
