Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Consultant to join our team at Ithaca College. This is a full-time position that will report to the Sr. Director, Talent Management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert-level consultation and intervention on employee relations matters, exercising discretion and confidentiality.
  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations, supporting employees and supervisors in responding to and identifying mitigation strategies for reports of misconduct and discrimination.
  • Identify trends and collaborate with leadership to recommend education, training, and supportive resources.
  • Perform intake, conduct interviews, assess, manage, and recommend resolutions to complex employee relations issues.
  • Compile and analyze interview and investigation information, preparing detailed reports and collaborating with leadership on outcomes.
  • Develop, maintain, and administer progressive discipline policy and guidelines.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Employee Training and Development Consultant to provide guidance on performance concerns and develop training programs.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for employee relations cases, performing data analysis to identify trends and inform HR strategies.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation, revising and drafting policies as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on key developments, trends, and changes to ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience managing employee relations issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and confidentiality.
