Overview

Gaudenzia is a leading nonprofit provider of treatment to individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders. We are seeking a skilled Billing Specialist to join our team, responsible for assisting with invoicing, coordinating authorizations, and ensuring proper paperwork for billing.

Responsibilities
  1. Submit insurance claims to clearinghouses or individual insurance companies electronically or via paper CMS-1500 forms.
  2. Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or rejected claims, resolving issues and re-submitting claims as needed.
  3. Prepare patient statements for charges not covered by insurance, ensuring timely mailing.
  4. Post insurance and patient payments using medical claim billing software.
  5. Process secondary claims for patients with coverage by multiple insurers.
  6. Understand managed care authorizations and limits to coverage, such as visit limits.
  7. Verify patient benefits eligibility and coverage.
  8. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Accounts Receivable Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in accounting or a related field, or two years of related education.
  • One year of related experience required.
  • Knowledge of office and clerical functions, Microsoft Word and Excel, and required reports and client file maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, plan and organize work, and establish and maintain effective working relationships.
