Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Rehabilitation Therapy Supervisor to join our team at Emory Healthcare. As a key member of our rehabilitation team, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our rehabilitation therapy staff and students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage rehabilitation therapy staff and students to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Represent the department in interdepartmental projects and committees.
  • Participate in direct and consultative patient care, including developing and implementing treatment plans.
  • Coordinate quality assurance and quality improvement activities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Perform routine and specialized procedures relating to therapy techniques, including maintaining a high level of proficiency in technical skills.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Participate in program design committees to ensure that service commitments align with resource capability, state-of-the-art clinical practices, and fiscal efficiency.
  • Respond to and direct consumer problems, providing input to departmental short- and long-term goals and objectives.
  • Review and revise patient care and treatment procedures and policies on an ongoing basis.
  • Meet with staff members to discuss progress and develop future courses of action.
  • Administer and communicate policies, procedures, and related forms in accordance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
  • Participate in staff management and employee performance, including interviewing applicants and making recommendations for hiring staff.
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback, address problems, orient, and train employees, verify competency, and identify ways to develop skills.
  • Complete performance evaluations and take appropriate corrective action.
  • Monitor workflow and guide monitoring and evaluating quality improvement and productivity activities to meet regulatory and legal standards.
  • Represent Rehab Therapy in hospital-wide program design and other appropriate committees to ensure that service commitments align with resource capability, state-of-the-art clinical practice, and fiscal efficiency.
  • Communicate policy and procedure changes to all appropriate departments within the organization and community.
  • Represent the Director of Rehab Therapy/CRM as needed in hospital-wide meetings.
  • Resolve complaints, grievances, and other issues affecting operations.
  • Develop and maintain formal training and orientation programs for staff to maintain discipline-specific competencies.
  • Promote continuing education for staff and provide opportunities for professional development.
  • Serve as a resource to medical staff, students, other allied health professionals, and support staff concerning the operations of Rehab Therapy.
  • Evaluate staff educational needs based on clinical populations and situations.
  • Maintain Rehab Therapy records pertaining to continuing education, personnel, charting, financial operations, and quality improvement.
  • Monitor adherence to documentation standards.
  • Assist in preparing and monitoring the Rehab Therapy budget to ensure compliance with fiscal constraints.
  • Prioritize and project current and future program needs; develop proposed timelines for budgetary consideration.
  • Assist with inventory control and identify the need for purchasing supplies and equipment to ensure the availability of commonly used materials.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited program for physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology.
  • Current licensure as a Speech Pathologist, Physical Therapist, or Occupational Therapist in the State of Georgia.
  • Five years of clinical experience required, including two years in a management/supervisory role preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
