Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at DLR Group. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from sustainable design to high-performance buildings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of mechanical systems for buildings across various sectors, including Higher Education, Culture & Performing Arts, Healthcare, K-12, Justice/Civic, Federal, and Energy.
  • Collaborate with architects, other engineers, and clients to produce highly integrated building designs.
  • Manage project schedules to meet deliverable requirements and lead mechanical engineering teams to produce high-quality construction documents using Revit.
  • Perform mechanical/HVAC calculations, including code research, and write and review specifications.
  • Carry out technical reviews of interdisciplinary teams prior to issuance and review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Survey existing systems and make recommendations based on the survey and conduct site visits.
  • Manage workload and schedules on mechanical project teams and/or interdisciplinary project teams and mentor junior staff across all disciplines.
  • Represent DLR Group at meetings with owners, clients, and suppliers.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • 10+ years of experience working as a mechanical engineer, including design of HVAC systems, central utility plants, plumbing and fire suppression systems.
  • Working knowledge of the design and construction process and the ability to understand and communicate with professionals of other disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Revit and local building, mechanical, and energy codes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets to ensure on-time delivery and a demonstrated record of consistent quality work.
  • Ability to lead others and foster teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • LEED accreditation.
  • Building energy modeling experience.
  • An interest in DLR Group's involvement in MEP 2040 and low-carbon designs.
