About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems USA. As a key member of our Electronic Systems division, you will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of complex mechanical systems and hardware.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and hardware, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve our products and processes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience in the aero/defense industry.
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance (Eligible for) HIGHLY PREFERRED.
  • Proven technical leadership and experience in hardware architecting, product development, and support of complex DoD military electronics/avionics equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design, analysis, and documentation principles, as well as experience with state-of-the-art mechanical engineering development software tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, judgment, and analytical capability, with proven ability to research and apply mechanical engineering principles and theories to solve mechanical engineering problems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance (Eligible for) HIGHLY PREFERRED.
  • Demonstrated design success - meet difficult design requirements.
  • Experience with ANSYS Workbench/Mechanical, PTC Creo, MATLAB/Simulink, Siemens NX, ANSYS Icepak.
  • Knowledge of MIL specs & standards, industry standards including ASTM, SAE, DO.
  • Knowledge/experience with manufacturing, production, and sustainment of mechanical systems and hardware.
