Rock Quarry Operations Lead

Position Summary:
The Quarry Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient execution of mining activities and initial material processing stages, ensuring adherence to all relevant permits and regulations. This role requires a commitment to operational excellence and a proactive approach to adapting to changing conditions. A strategic evaluation of all phases of mining operations is essential to ensure a reliable supply of rock for the associated manufacturing processes. The Quarry Manager will supervise both direct reports and hourly personnel, fostering a skilled and collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the extraction, processing, and distribution of materials from the quarry, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and legal standards.
* Collaborate with engineers, geologists, surveyors, and contractors to effectively plan and execute mining projects.
* Develop both short-term and long-term strategies to optimize resource reserves and mining operations.
* Collect data to create targeted training programs aimed at enhancing operator performance through best practices in mining.
* Prepare and maintain accurate reports and records in a timely manner.
* Ensure the efficient operation of the crushing and screening plant, ensuring that operators are well-trained and adhere to company standards.
* Manage personnel and equipment effectively to maximize operational performance, setting key performance indicators and achieving related objectives.
* Direct and manage resources to optimize performance outcomes, establishing measurable key performance indicators.
* Promote the professional development of production personnel by providing opportunities for skill enhancement aligned with career aspirations and business needs.
* Conduct performance evaluations and address any disciplinary issues as necessary.
* Oversee equipment availability and optimize operational uptime.
* Prepare capital requests for new equipment or necessary overhauls.
* Develop and manage the budget in accordance with approved spending.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field
* Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a mining environment.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted in both enclosed facilities and outdoor settings, where exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, noise, and rough terrain may occur. The role involves a significant amount of administrative work.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, lift objects up to 50 lbs, and perform tasks involving bending, climbing, kneeling, and stooping.
