Position Overview:

The Art Inventory Management Supervisor is tasked with overseeing the strategic placement of artwork storage at Pace Gallery and its associated venues, ensuring an efficient and effective storage framework. This role is pivotal in guaranteeing that artworks are positioned at the appropriate Pace facilities, while also managing the movement and allocation of inventory across various locations in alignment with established strategies and budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all artworks within the Pace inventory are stored in optimal locations, taking into account factors such as marketability, operational efficiency, insurance parameters, climate control, and overall cost management.
  • Track and report on inventory and insurance discrepancies, as well as the growth or stagnation of inventory, to the Senior Director of Art Resources and the Head of Collections.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Shipping, Registrars, Exhibitions, and Art Fairs to develop a strategic approach to storage when distributing exhibition and art fair works, alongside general inventory oversight.
  • Effectively manage storage solutions at external locations, including third-party shippers and warehouses, to minimize storage costs while adhering to budgetary limits.
  • Engage with Sales and Artist Liaison teams regarding the storage requirements and expectations for newly acquired artists.
  • Design and implement inventory control protocols and best practices for appropriate storage solutions.
  • Work closely with IT and Accounting departments to create reporting and tracking systems that facilitate the achievement of company financial objectives.
  • Partner with the Registrar team during the annual audit process.
  • Oversee billing and rebilling processes for all inventory locations, ensuring operations align with annual budget targets in accordance with the sold-work service policy.
  • Provide precise quarterly and year-end physical inventory reports, in addition to leading summer inventory initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • B.A. Degree in Facilities Management, Supply Chain, Business Management, Operations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a managerial role.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a related field within fine art, inventory management, or equivalent sectors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of packing, shipping, condition reporting, and cataloging high-value artworks.
  • Experience in warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with equipment safety standards.
  • Proven track record in managing operating and capital budgets.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to interact positively with various levels of management, staff, vendors, and clients.
  • A dynamic team player who demonstrates diplomacy and creativity in their work.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite/Outlook and inventory management software.

Compensation: Estimated salary for this position ranges from $60,000 to $90,000.
