Legal Affairs Specialist - Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence

This part-time role (21 hours per week) is designated for individuals who have previously served in city roles. Eligible candidates can continue to receive pension and benefits while fulfilling this position. The role is temporary and is not intended to exceed 12 months.

The Mayor's Office to End Domestic and Gender-Based Violence (ENDGBV) is looking for a Staff Analyst II to serve as a Legal Affairs Specialist. Reporting directly to the First Deputy Commissioner, the Legal Affairs Specialist will undertake a variety of legal responsibilities, including:

  • Contract Management: draft, review, negotiate, and finalize contractual agreements
  • Ethical Compliance: ensure adherence to the guidelines set forth by the Conflict of Interest Board
  • Information Requests: oversee Freedom of Information Law inquiries
  • Litigation Oversight: manage litigation processes in partnership with the NYC Law Department
  • Record Management: ensure compliance with record retention policies
  • Project Support: assist or lead special initiatives and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum qualifications require a master's or bachelor's degree in relevant fields along with professional experience. Preferred qualifications include a Juris Doctor (JD) and familiarity with legal issues, particularly in governmental or contractual environments. A dedication to public service and knowledge of New York City laws and policies are advantageous.

This position is also accessible to qualified individuals with disabilities under the 55-a Program. Interested candidates are encouraged to indicate their eligibility for this program. Additional considerations include Public Service Loan Forgiveness and residency requirements.
