Job Summary:

The Counsel for Commercial Affairs will be responsible for providing expert advice and counsel to clients on a wide range of commercial matters, including structuring, negotiating, and drafting agreements. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise clients on commercial contracts and agreements, including licensing, electronic publishing, IT, and consulting agreements.
  • Develop and implement new technology solutions to improve contract management and other business processes.
  • Train organizational units on commercial law, contract formation, and other legal subjects.
  • Provide general legal advice to clients and organizational units.
  • Collaborate with other departments on additional legal projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a science or technical field (preferred).
  • Doctor of Jurisprudence from a national law school (required).
  • 7-10 years of commercial contracts experience.
  • In-house corporate or law firm experience (required).
  • Member in good standing of the NY or NJ State bar.
  • Experience representing non-profit organizations a plus.
  • Experience with technology contracts a plus.
