Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Duke Primary Care in Apex. As an integral member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support administrative duties in a fast-paced medical practice.

Responsibilities
  • Takes medical histories and records vital signs
  • Explains treatment procedures to patients and prepares them for examinations and procedures
  • Assists medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures
  • Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, performs basic laboratory tests, and takes electrocardiograms
  • Removes sutures/staples, changes sterile and non-sterile dressings, and promotes patient/family understanding of educational content and their involvement in the plan of care
  • Documents in the patient record and performs other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Greets patients, answers telephones, schedules appointments, and checks out patients
  • Arranges for hospital admissions and laboratory services, updates and files patient medical records, and fills out insurance forms
  • Handles billing, bookkeeping, and correspondence, and orders clinical and clerical supplies and forms
Requirements
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required
  • BLS required
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES preferred
  • High school or GED graduation required
Work Environment

This role is located in Apex, NC, and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced medical practice environment. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
