About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Brokerage Entry Writer to join our Customs Brokerage team at Kuehne + Nagel. As a Customs Brokerage Entry Writer, you will play a critical role in coordinating the documentation required by US Customs and Border Protection for entry of goods into the US on behalf of importers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of customs documentation, including commercial invoices, bills of lading, and other required documents.
  • Process Entries: Process entries through our system, obtaining Customs release and other government agency releases.
  • Provide Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to importers, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor Customs Rejections: Review and monitor all Customs rejections, requests for information, and other correspondence to ensure compliance with regulations and minimize delays.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Collaborate with other departments, including sales, operations, and customer service, to deliver high-level service to customers.
  • Stay Up-to-Date on Regulations: Stay current on domestic and international shipping regulations, including mandatory daily correspondence with overseas offices.
Requirements
  • 2+ Years of Industry Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in the logistics or customs brokerage industry.
  • Entry Writer Experience: 2+ years of experience as an Entry Writer, with a strong understanding of customs regulations and procedures.
  • Geographic Knowledge: Solid knowledge of domestic and international geography, including countries, major cities, and ocean ports.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Basic knowledge of U.S. Regulatory Laws, including INCO terms, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, and Customs regulations.
  • Ability to Work On-Site: Ability to work on-site at our Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN location.
